Ratings & Reviews of Clarion Hotel State Capital
  1. Beautiful View by Amy C. at InsiderPages
The Clarion in downtown Raleigh has a magnificent view, especially from the top floor, where a restaurant bar are located. The restaurant is generally buffet style, featuring a different menu each day. It is affordable and usually very tasty. While the Clarion is by far not the newest hotel in Raleigh, it certainly is well-run and clean. Staff is helpful. The parking deck is spiral and attached, making parking a snap. For any stay requiring very easy access to downtown or NC State, the Clarion is a great option. (Citysearch User, 02/05/2009)

  5. Secure your valueables before you leave your room.
I stayed here for one night only and when I left my room to visit a friend, i was only gone for 2 hours. In that very short period of time, my room was robbed and all my valueables were stolen! I notified the police and they caught the person the next day. There was no signs of forced entry into the room. There seemed to be no security in the hotel at all and only one camera in the entire building. I only recovered half of my property. The service was sub par and I feel the perpetrator knew someone on the inside. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! (drugster44, 09/07/2006)

  6. Don't waste your money
Stayed last weekend at the Clarion, only to have one of the worst experiences ever. The rooms were very sticky and hot. After talking with several guests we realized that this was the case in all rooms. After several complaints to the front desk, we still did not have a comfortable room. The front desk staff proved to be rude and unhelpful. The pool was unable to be used (would've been nice considering the temperature of our rooms) and the bar/restaurant was closed early. I was harassed by two men in the parking garage who were loitering and I had talked to another guest who said they had a man try to enter their hotel room around 3am the night before. I had requested that the front desk call us a taxi and that we needed a van to accommodate the 8 people we had with us, only to come down and find a regular cab. The rooms were very small and we found dead insects in the rooms and hallways. I could go on and on. The best thing about our time spent at this hotel was it's location downtown and checking OUT. 7. Awesome Restaurant
Great business hotel. It has a perfect downtown location, wireless internet access, and free parking. The restaurant on the 21st floor has views of everything in Raleigh. Sit by the window. The bar is good. Beware of the older bartender,(forgot his name), he'll talk your ear off just looking for tips. You may luck out and get one of their good looking younger helpers to make your trip enjoyable. Try the burgers or salmon, those are the only two I've ever ordered, and they are really good. Best downtown hotel in my opinion. (putterboy1, 01/18/2006)
